Morzine Snow Report: 28th January 2014

Perfect Pistes & Powder With Clear Skies Too

featured in Snow report Author James Fisher, Morzine Video Reporter Updated

Today was one of the best days of the season so far. The pistes in Morzine and Avoriaz are absolutely perfect with fast but grippy snow and there's even a little bit of powder out there too!!

With the snowfall that came in on Sunday night expectations were high yesterday but  some patchy and intermittently low cloud meant that visibility was not always perfect. Not so today. We awoke to clear skies and the knowledge that it had been cold overnight.

With this being low season the new snow lasts longer before being scrapped and chopped up. This was obvious from our first run today. The pistes were superb with fast but grippy snow that would hold an edge even on steeper sections of the runs.

After a warm up on the Grand Plan run into Linderets we headed towards Mossette with no real plan other than that we should enjoy the sun. Arriving at the top of Pointe de Mossettte it became clear that both sides of the bowl had seen little traffic the day before and there was plenty of untouched powder within reach of the lifts. No need to hike in or out. Perfect.

We rode both side of the Mossette's Bowl all morning until our legs were too tired to go on. The snow was fast and fun and although not terribly deep there was enough to give that floating feeling that makes powder so much fun. A few runs on the pistes to take us home and we called it a day just after noon.

Perfect pistes, some powder and blue skies. Like I said today was one of the best days of the season so far.
