Morzine Snow Report: 3rd March 2014

Some great snow over the weekend, if you could get to it

featured in Snow report Author James Fisher, Morzine Video Reporter Updated

There has been some great skiing this weekend in Morzine and there is more ahead with fresh snow followed by sunshine.

The sun only really emerged on Sunday afternoon but there was heavy snow on Friday which meant that the skiing and snowboarding, especially in the off-piste and trees, was great on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday was once again very quiet and even in the popular areas around the Chaux Fleuire and Linderets chairlifts there were no queues and very quiet pistes.Unfortunately a mechanical difficulty followed by a need for parts in the Pleney Bubble meant that access to Morzine and Les Gets ski area was much more difficult and the lift was closed all day on Saturday.

Fortunately the Pleney was back up and running on Sunday and just in time as the pistes were much busier as the holiday season continues.

We headed to Torgon and the Swiss edge of the Portes du Soleil where we had the slopes to ourselves and although the weather didn't clear until the afternoon there was soe excellent powder in the trees and slopes on the back side of Chatel and Torgon.

Today the snow was falling heavily in the morning but by the afternoon it had stopped and we are looking forward to some sunshine from tomorrow onwards.

March has started with some of the best sow we have seen in an already excellent snow year.
