Morzine Snow Report: 3rd December 2015

Conditions in Avoriaz are looking good

featured in Snow report Author Giles Towler, Morzine Reporter Updated

With some of the lifts due to open this weekend what are the conditions like?

Following heavy snow falls last week, the decision was taken to open Avoriaz this weekend, a week earlier than originally scheduled. Approximately 1.5 metres of snow fell in Avoriaz while there was also heavy snowfall down to Morzine.

The past few days have been sunny and warm in Morzine, and much of the lower snow has melted. There is still snow to the bottom of Pleney, but the sunnier slopes (Super Morzine) have melted considerably. [see picture above]

During the colder spell last week the snow canons in Avoriaz were running, building up a good base layer. By the end of last week the slopes on the Arare had already been pisted.

This weekend the slopes in the Arare sector should be excellent, but conditions will inevitably vary towards the lower slopes. It is probably not advisable to ski off piste if you value your skis at all.

The Prodains lift opens at 08:45 this Saturday, with one lift open in the Arare sector as well as the Prolays chair in Lindarets and the Ardent bubble. Lift passes are 20 euros for the day.

See you on the slopes!
