Morzine Snow Report: 6th November 2014

First snows of the 2014-15 ski season

You can't have missed that it's been snowing in Morzine & Avoriaz over the last 24 hours! Super Morzine seemed to have gotten a good covering so a few friends and I went up to take a closer look.

There was approximately 30 centimetres of snow on the slopes, and after workmen getting the new lifts finished gave us a helpful lift up the fire road, we were ready for the first ride of the season.

There is a large dirt jump on the Super Morzine that was built for mountain bikers over summer, and with a covering of snow it looked ready for jumping! It remains to be seen what will be done with this jump over winter, as it is right at the side of the piste and below the lift, so there will be plenty of people who will be keen to hit it when they spot it.

The track from the new Seraussaix lift, while still slightly flat, looks like it will improve the return trip from Avoriaz to Morzine.

As long as the temperature stays low in the coming weeks, the snow that's fallen now will be a good start to the base layer for winter. More snow is expected at the start of next week which will top it up even more.
