The Morzine Parc des Dérêches sports centre offers a wide range of sports and fitness activities in summer and winter.
In summertime, the swimming complex at the edge of the Parc des Dereches, in the heart of Morzine, is the ideal place to while away a sunny day with all the family. The large outdoor paddling and teaching pools, volleyball courts, bouncy castle and waterslide will keep the kids entertained if you’re in the mood to hammer out some lengths in the Olympic sized pool (50x21m). The loungers and grassy park make for a great spot to catch up with friends, read a book or simply work on your tan.
There are three indoor pools for rainy days too: a paddling pool, teaching pool and 25x15m pool, as well as a large spa and sauna area with Turkish baths.
The changing rooms are well equipped with lockers, hairdryers and showers. There is a strict “no shorts” policy in the water, so no trunks or boardies allowed. However, vending machines provide swimming costumes and goggles for any forgotten necessities. The café supplies hungry swimmers with a host of treats from crêpes and ice creams to salads and sandwiches. Not a bad spot for a coffee either!
Indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks are open in winter, both for public use and for ice hockey matches - come and cheer on the Morzine Penguins if there is a game on while you're in town.
Other facilities include tennis courts, fitness classes, basketball courts, skate park, walking trails, children's playground, street hockey rink, a treetop adventure park and a horse riding centre. Some of the facilities are free, others are paid - please see the website for all admission prices.

Lac de Montriond is a peaceful natural retreat surrounded by cliffs and forest. Enjoy swimming, paddle boarding, walking trails, and more in this scenic lakeside spot.
Just a short drive from Morzine or Avoriaz, Lac Montriond is one of the most peaceful and picturesque spots in the valley. Surrounded by forested slopes and dramatic cliffs, the lake’s emerald green water offers a calm scenic setting with plenty to do whether you're looking for outdoor adventure or a relaxed afternoon.
You’ll find a variety of activities on and around the lake. In summer the calm waters are ideal for paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking. Equipment can be hired on site. There is also a designated swimming area with shallow water that is safe for even the youngest visitors, making it a popular spot for families. There is a childrens playground at one end of the lake. You can join a yoga class on several days a week in summer on the deck at the Domaine de Baron and there is a cold water swimming group that meet regularly at the lake.
On dry land you can walk the path that loops around the lake, taking in the peaceful mountain scenery and spotting local wildlife along the way. The full circuit is gentle and suitable for most ages and abilities. There is also pony riding and mini golf nearby while anglers can enjoy fishing in the well stocked lake. A fishing licence is required.
For those interested in local history and geology, the lake is part of the Chablais UNESCO Global Geopark. Along the lakeside trail you can learn more about the area’s glacial past, the story of the extravagant Baron de l’Espée and the impact of the landslide that formed the lake thousands of years ago.
Lac Montriond is equally lovely if you're simply looking to relax. Spread out a towel on the grass, enjoy a picnic or get a drink from one of the nearby cafés. The lake is easily accessed by car or by the free shuttle service that runs from Montriond village during both summer and winter seasons.
If you're visiting in August, don't miss the spectacular lakeside fireworks, a popular local event that lights up the valley and draws thousands of visitors.
Whether you’re after gentle walks, family friendly fun or time out on the water, Lac Montriond is a must visit during your stay in the area.
