Avalanche in Avoriaz Injures Two

Two Skiers buried in Avoriaz Avalanche on Sunday

Two skiers were caught in an avalanche on Sunday afternoon on the Vorlaz peak above Avoriaz.

The two skiers were swept 200 metres down the slope when an avalanche broke free from the Pointe de Vorlaz. The two men were partially buried and according to source one injured a shoulder and the other suffered more serious injuries, including a possible pneumothorax, and was airlifted to hospital.

The accident occured just after midday at around 2200m and was witnessed by a third person who alerted the emergency services.
