St Jean d'Aulps Autumn Fair
Fair and wine festival
Autumn fair with wine stands and a cow judging competition, as well as lots of shows and entertainment.
The fair features lots of wine-growers and specialities from all over France (foie-gras, oysters, snails...), craft goods, exhibitions of all types and pony rides all weekend.
There is also a Saturday lunchtime menu with cheese raclette or tripe (15€). On Saturday night, the St Jean d’Aulps Ski Club presents a rock night with special guest star Johnny Starway, Johnny Hallyday’s official tribute act, together with a sauerkraut dinner (€20).
On Sunday, visitors can watch as Santec farmers sell their vegetables in the heart of this traditional fair, and the cow judging competition with the famous Abondance breed, featuring farmers from the Vallée d’Aulps. The fair opens at 8:00, cows arrive at 9:30, judging is from 10:00 and prize-giving is at 14:00. With merry-go-rounds and entertainment all day. The Sunday lunch menu includes a giant spit-roast beef, cheese and pudding (€19).
