Snow Report 29/12/22
Happy New Year! It’s time for fireworks, mulled wine and torchlit descents. One of the busiest weeks of the year has arrived and crowds have descended on the slopes. It's that in between week when you don’t know what day it is, but that’s not really important here in the mountains when every day is a ski day!
A light snowfall is expected tonight, around 6 cm, however this turns to rain through tomorrow afternoon and evening. The temperatures remain mild for this time of year with the freezing level at around 2500 metres Friday night but up at around 3000 metres over the weekend. Next week the temperatures will drop down to around -2°C on Tuesday up at the top and the freezing level goes down to 1750 metres.
Morzine has around 50cm snow depth at the Point de Nyon, but no snow currently at the resort level. The avalanche risk levels remain moderate so take care if you’re venturing off the pistes especially at altitude.
Check below and before you go out each day for the current lift status as certain connecting lifts to Avoriaz may not be open every day. This week, Les Gets and Morzine are only selling one day passes each day until the conditions improve, however you can go up to Avoriaz and there is a good shuttle bus network operating from Les Gets and Morzine.

What's coming up
If you are heading out to celebrate New Year’s Eve - book now! The bars and restaurants only have limited space, the resort is full and some are offering 2 sittings. You will find it difficult to get into places if you haven’t booked in advance.
January is a great time to come and ski. The snow is in good condition, the slopes are quieter, accommodation is normally better value and flights are cheaper. It’s easier to get your favourite table in your preferred mountain restaurant in January. So if you haven’t planned your winter ski holiday yet, check out some of the great chalets and offers in Morzine
