The main draw for people coming to Morzine in winter is, of course, skiing and snowboarding in the vast Portes du Soleil area, with 600 km of pistes spread across 12 different ski resorts in France and Switzerland.

Aquariaz, Avoriaz

1. Aquariaz

Aquariaz is an aquatic paradise set in the heart of Avoriaz offering a huge water park made up of a gentle flowing indoor river, a slidewinder (an aquatic halfpipe), a toddlers paddling pool and water playhouse, a large pool with natural climbing walls.

Some of the features include:

The Water Playhouse
This colourful first space is dedicated to younger children and features geysers and pouring water play equipment including water slides, water guns and a tipping bucket that pours out tens of litres of water at a time. This extends into a large paddling pool.

The Slidewinder 
For the most adventurous bathers who are looking for big thrills and an adrenaline buzz. More than 10 metres up, you sit in a rubber tube and slide down a halfpipe, returning to terra firma after a long ride down.

The chill-out space
Located in the central pool, this space is made up of a gently flowing river with water games (bubbles, jets and faster and slower sections), two areas of bubble-massage seats, a 1.2 m deep pool below a climbing wall that extends for its entire length and not forgetting the outdoor Jacuzzi with its uninterrupted view of the valley.

Aqua fitness
The lifeguards at Aquariaz offer aquatic sports classes including aqua zumba, fitness, slim, punishing and aqua step. All 45 minute classes.

2. Night sledging

Stick on your head torch and enjoy the sledging down the pistes at night.

Once the skiing has finished and the slopes closed, some pistes are kept open for this fun activity!.

You will start from Avoriaz station and slide over 1000 metres downhill to ​Prodains. The professional and qualified instructors will make sure everyone is safe and has fun!

Please note that you will need a valid ski pass and your own helmet. You will be provided with the sledge and a head torch. 

This activity is only suitable for adults and children over the age of 14.

3. Avoscoot Snowmobiling

Location

Snowmobiling can be a fun, fast, snowy activity. Starting from Avoriaz resort, outings start from 17.30 to midnight, giving you free range of the snow and the Alps.

If you are in a group or just fancy doing it on your own it can be a fun and exciting activity to participate in, especially as the sunsets and darkness descends. Scooting around on a snowmobile enjoying the views and the empty mountains, it gives you a whole new perspective of Morzine. 

Each session starts with a 15 minutes briefing, and then is followed by a 45 minutes ride taking you through 20km of the Super Morzine forest. 

Please note that in order to drive a snowmobile you must be over 18 and hold a valid driving licence or motorbike licence, however you are able to book a trip as a passenger with a guide. Minimum age as a passenger is 10 and maximum age is 75 in good physical health.

The consumption of alcohol and drugs is strictly prohibited when partaking in this activity.

The meeting point is in the Avoriaz resort, at the bottom of the Chapelle chair lift.

4. Hydrospeeding

This is an amazing activity where you can have fun on the river, suitable for good swimmers from 14 years and above.

You don't need to be a cross channel swimmer for this activity, but you need to like water and be at home in it! The most important thing is to learn the art of using fins. Once this is achieved hydrospeed is a piece of cake. Your guide will explain the basics of navigating down the river, how to enter and get out of the current and the rules of safety.

Meeting at Thonon les Bains, the activity lasts approximately one hour. There will be a maximum of 20 people per group.

Hydrospeeding is suitable for strong swimmers from the age of 14 upwards.

5. Snowshoeing

Get to know the mountains at a steady pace while being guided by high mountain instructors.

An ideal activity to bring your family and friends together while getting closer to nature. Every trail is an adventure and they offer various trails and hikes around Morzine. Their qualified instructors will safely guide you to awesome sites and will share their knowledge about the area, the fauna and flora along the way.

Your instructor will lead the way whilst you enjoy the landscapes. It’s a refreshing way to escape and to forget about your everyday hustle and bustle.

Go off the beaten track, away from the pistes and discover remote parts of the mountain the forests, search for animal tracks and look for Chamois.

6. Whitewater rafting, near Morzine

A selection of exhilarating rafting excursions to suit all abilities.

Enjoy exhilarating rapids as you twist and turn down the river. Rafting is with expert supervision and full safety equipment.

You'll need to bring a swimsuit, shoes and towel.

Meeting at Thonon les Bains, choose from the Discovery, Rodeo, or Longo courses.

Discovery - (One hour on the water) This takes place on the lower part of the river and is ideal if this is your first time at rafting. You will be shown how to swim in the currents to make you aware of the principles of safety in the river. this is accessible to anyone over the age of eight.

Rodeo - (One hour on the water) This is a slightly more challenging course and is for people looking for the sporty aspect of rafting with a six km descent, suitable for those 13 years and above.

Longo - (One and a half hours on the water) This option involves both sections of the river (12km in total) and is suitable for those 13 years and above.

You must be able to swim in order to take part in this activity.

7. Morzine Ski Joering

A unique equestrian winter activity! Discover a fun way to get around on the snow – being pulled by a horse! You'll be joined by a specially harnessed horse while you stand on your skis.

Introductory sessions are available or you can take a longer route through the trees. Minimum age is six years old.

The starting point is at The Col de la Joux Verte, on the way to Avoriaz.

Rustine Mountain Biking & Snow Biking, Avoriaz

8. Rustine mountain biking and snow biking

Open in summer this company can guide you on a trips out mountain biking in the Portes du Soleil. In winter they can take you mountain biking on snow in Avoriaz too!

Bike hire and courses are available. Open daily in July and August for the summer season and throughout the winter for snow biking.

Children's Sports & Activities, Avoriaz

9. Children's sports and activities

Lots of fun activities for children and teens throughout the summer and winter months.

From adventure park to horse riding in summer to the riglet park and skiing/snowboarding in winter, there's always something going on at the Village des Enfants.

Situated in the heart of Avoriaz, the Village des Enfants welcomes children from the age of three from 09:00 to 17:30.  Ski and snowboard lessons are held from 09:15 to 11:45. and from 13:30  to 16:00. Entertainment/activities from 16:00 to 17:30.

More than 100 instructors and animators are available to teach young skiers and to show them all that this exceptional resort has to offer.

Children are offered lunch and tea in the Village restaurant and there are various après-ski activities adapted to different age groups.

10. Golf club Morzine

The Morzine Avoriaz golf course is based around the Procolou piste just under Avoriaz town.

A nine hole par thirty six course with great views of the Pleney. Open from mid June to the end of September.

There is a pro shop and a clubhouse with a restaurant serving lunch daily. Lessons for all abilities are available and there is a driving range.
