Record numbers at Pass'portes du Soleil 2016
7500 participants have registered for this years MTB event
The 13th edition of the popular Pass'portes du Soleil Mountain biking event takes place this weekend and it's been a record breaking year for registrations.
When registrations opened back in February, over 4000 people signed up in the first two hours, and since the event began they've seen numbers increase seven fold.
It's not surprising that so many people want to take part in this event, which links all 12 villages of the Portes du Soleil in one enormous challenge. Whilst some people want to try to ride the full 80km circuit in one day, there are shorter circuits, kids events, a night ride, electric bike routes, a girl's ride with MTB downhill champion Celine Gros and also a circuit for pedestrians - it really is an inclusive few days.
This year the bike village is located in Chatel, and with more than 7500 people on the trails it's going to be a busy weekend.
Watch out for current UCI DH World Cup riders Josh Bryceland and Greg Minnar, part of the Santa Cruz team, who will be taking part this year.
