The Cavern 24/7 Film Festival is Here!

The Cavern 24/7 Film Competition goes from strength to strength as it enters its eighth year.

The concept behind the 24/7 is simple. Teams of two or more have seven days to produce a film that is no longer than four minutes which will then be shown at the Palais du Sport (where the ice hockey rink is just below the Super Morzine bridge).

Filming this year will begin on Thursday 5th March and finish on Wednesday 11th March. The screening will take place on the 12th. Tickets for the event will cost 10 euros and will be available from Dotty's cafe on the high street and The Cavern bar. There will also be a raffle, with tickets available on the night. There will also be cheap beer and live music from Zuri Aura. All proceeds will go to charity - last year's event went a long way to funding the Morzine Skatepark, which is due to begin construction around the end of March. Epic TV are on board as media partners this year to help get the videos out to an even wider audience. The number of teams has also been kept lower than in previous years to keep the quality as high as possible, and the impressive prize money should be an added incentive to film makers and riders.

As the competition has grown over the years it has become one of the best nights of the season, and despite moving from its original home in the Cavern bar to the Palais du Sport it still manages to sell out every year, so it is well worth getting a ticket as they are available (at the time of writing they are not currently on sale).

The videos always offer something different to the more traditional ski and snowboard films and have included in previous years alien invasions, music videos, zombies, cult 70s film The Warriors, Napoleon Dynamite, Only Fools and Horses, Baywatch and The Big Lebowski.

Places are very limited, but if you want sign up, send a PM to the organisers

All previous films can be viewed here, whether people are looking for inspiration for an entry this year, want to get excited about this year's event or are bored at work and want something to distract them for a while!
