Avoriaz Opening Weekend Bathed in Afternoon Sunshine
The pistes in Avoriaz got their first guests this weekend and the snow cover was good dispite a lack of any new snow in the last few weeks.
The pistes are all covered in snow but there is very little snow in the off the marked runs. The snow is firm and hard packed in the shade with a sugary layer on top. In the sun the snow is much nicer and pretty close to perfect.
The forecast is for more snow towards the end of the week which should help top up the pistes and maybe even allow us to head off the marked runs.
