Opening of New Cable Car Delayed Until March

High Tech Lift Not Operational For Another Month

Plans to open the long awaited high tech, super expensive new 3S cable car have suffered a delay. It had originally been hoped that the cable car would open in February, but this date has now been pushed back until March 2013.

When it does finally open, the 3S gondola will replace the 50 year old Prodains cable car between Morzine and Avoriaz. The new cable car uses '3S technology' meaning it uses 2 carrying cables and 1 hauling cable and is designed to transport between 2,000 and 2,400 passengers per hour. The current Prodains cable car can only manage an uplift of 450 people an hour.

With a planned journey time from Morzine to Avoriaz expected to only take 4 minutes, the introduction of the 3S cable car will be a huge asset to both towns.

Fingers crossed it opens as planned in March...
