The Portes du Soleil and Morzine will be equipped for electric mountain bikes this summer with electric mountain bike hire, battery recharging stations and dedicated trail routes.
Electric mountain biking has been growing in popularity with the emergence of good quality electric mountain bikes, with reasonable weight and decent autonomy range. The mountain bike haven that is the Portes du Soleil, have jumped on this new trend with the launch of a number of battery recharging stations installed throughout the area and special mountain bike maps offering a choice of trails for electric mountain bikes.
You'll be able to try these bikes out on 3 circuits taking in views of different lakes along the way:
- Joux-Plane lake and its view over Mont Blanc
- Montriond Lake
- Mines d'Or lake and the Vallee de la Manche
A number of Morzine sports shops will be stocking electric bikes for hire, including Morz'na Sport and DSV in Morzine. The bikes will feature a Bosch battery & motor, as seen on the Moustache bikes, which have been reported to be leading edge in the electric bike market.
Prices will start from 8€ an hour, then 30€ for a half day and 55€ for a full day.
