In 2016 football teams from around Europe will descend on Morzine for competition unlike any other. 12 Nations will be represented, each hoping to be crowned European Champions of mountain villages!
It’s an top level amateur competition but will see players from across Europe to travel to Morzine for the prestigious event that is a real test of fitness and skill.
26 matches will be played in total on a special pitch that is being built at the top of the Pleney slope, so not only will players have to battle against each other but they also have to fight against altitude and unpredictable weather. The pitch is currently being laid and provides players with a stunning backdrop of the surrounding mountains including views of Mont Blanc.
The competition takes place between the 2nd to the 5th of June 2016 and is already causing quite a stir amongst amateur footballers in Morzine. Locals have made the official trailer video for the event, which is being labelled as the little brother of the Euros. Training and preparation for the competition is already well under way but we’ll have to wait for June to see who will be the new champions of the Mountains.
