Kern Restaurant

Refined, elegant cuisine reflecting the seasons in a peaceful rural setting

featured in Restaurants Updated

At Kern, chef Jean-Philippe Lemaire crafts precise, flavour-led dishes using local produce, earning the restaurant its first Michelin star.

Kern is a hotel-restaurant set in the heart of the Savoyard countryside, built on the site of a former mill. Just 25 minutes from Thonon-les-Bains and 15 minutes from Morzine, it offers a calm, rural setting and a gastro menu reflecting the seasons and the region.

Chef Jean-Philippe Lemaire, originally from Brittany, trained in Dinard and has worked in kitchens across England, Asia and France, including several Michelin-starred establishments such as Domaine des Séquoias, Clos des Sens, and K2 in Courchevel. His cooking is precise and refined, focusing on clear, bold flavours.

Local produce is central to the menu, from lake fish to alpine herb and the dishes are influenced by both his travels and close connections with local farmers and producers. The result is a thoughtful, evolving cuisine that blends technique with instinct.

Kern has recently been awarded it's first Michelin star.
