Taking the kids skiing in Morzine this winter? A ski holiday with little ones can be a big adventure. After booking the holiday and packing up all the gear you still need to figure out ski lessons for the kids and how to keep them happy the entire week!

We’ve got the low down on children’s ski lessons in Morzine and everything else you need to know to ensure the kids enjoy their holiday and therefore so can you.

Ski Schools

Morzine has a great choice of Ski Schools, most of whom offer children's lessons and there are a handful of Private Ski Instructors who can also take small groups of children or individuals.

Meeting Points

Ski school meeting points tend to be at the bottom of the ski lifts in each of the different sectors of Morzine & Les Gets and some Ski Schools or Private Instructors can meet you at a location of your choice, you just need to ask if they offer this service.

Chair lifts aren’t scary

Chair lifts can be an intimidating concept for parents to think about when your kids are left in the hands of an instructor. The ski lifts in Morzine have a child shaped wooden cut out which if your child can fit through, they need to sit on the end seat closest to the lift attendant seated next to an adult. This is so the lift attendant can help them onto the lift, as well as an adult is there to watch them and that particular seat will have a kid stop (bar between the kids legs) holding them in more securely.

Bringing the babies along?

Don’t be intimidated if you’re on holiday with very wee ones, free buses around Morzine are child-friendly and allow easy access around resort. Babies and buggies can go up the bubbles and cable cars but keep in mind the pressure change with the higher altitude - you may want to seek advice from your family doctor first.

There are great walks along the valley floor, running parallel along the river with activities all the way along it. It’s perfect for an afternoon out with the wee ones. And don’t worry about lugging all your baby gear along with you. Hire every product could possibly need from Cheeky Monkeys Morzine. From buggies to baby monitors to cots and baby gates, they’ve got it covered.

Where to eat with the kids?

If you’re looking for a family-friendly spot to stop after your ski lessons, we highly recommend the restaurant in Hotel L’Aubergade. It is just a short walk from the bottom of the Pleney gondola and is a small, child-friendly restaurant. You can even bask in the sun on their slope side terrace. Find more restaurants in Morzine.

What else can the kids get up to?

There is no need to worry about what to get up to after ski lessons, as Morzine has a number of activities to keep your little ones entertained all day long.

Sledging: There is a sledging slope at the bottom of the Crusaz chairlift that you can access all day. Or for the bit bigger kids, head out sledging at night with a guide on the Pleney ski-slopes after the skiers have left the slopes. From 5:30pm every day. Swimming: There is a large indoor pool in Morzine as well Aquariaz - a pool with slides, hot tubs and a spar up in Avoriaz. Cinema Rex: Located on the main Rue du Bourg in Morzine, this cinema shows French films with English subtitles, as well as English films. There is a board outside the cinema showing all the films and times for each week.

Weekly Events & Activities: When you arrive in your resort ask your reps or head down to the tourist office to find out what’s on during your week in Morzine. With different activities/entertainment each week it’s good to get your finger on the pulse so as not to miss out. From Elf shows and Santa’s parade during Christmas, to an on-snow music concert for New Year to torchlight descents throughout the season, there’s often something special going on in resort.

New Generation Morzine Info

Children’s group ski lessons with New Generation run Monday-Friday (with an optional Sunday add-on) from 9am until 1:30pm for ages 5-13. Our kids group lessons in Morzine offer a very different experience to any thing else available. As they are 4.5 hours long, this gives time to consolidate skills as well as explore the whole mountain. This also includes a break in the middle of the lesson in one of mountain cafes, adding another experience for the kids, where they can socialise with their group mates and grab a quick hot chocolate. Often the kids really enjoy this part as well! Group lessons can also give a little competitive edge which is healthy when managed properly. If you’re looking for even more tuition and fun, there is also an option to extend the lesson to two full days on Tuesday and Thursday.

Private kids lessons give that one on one experience, where they get 100% of the instructors attention. The instructor can tailor the lesson exactly to the need to your child, or children.

For children age 4-5 we have shorter group lessons that run for two hours from 11.30 - 1.30. They get a later start for a slower morning and finish the same time as their brothers and sisters! We make use of the magic carpet, just a short walk from the meeting point at the top of Pleney lift in Morzine. It’s the best place to start for first timers!

Where can you meet us?

The meeting point for our Morzine Ski School is situated under the large screen opposite the top of the Pleney cable car. We can also meet you in Avoriaz at either the top of the Prodains Express Bubble or the top of the Ardent Bubble. Alternatively though, we can meet elsewhere. We just need to know at time of booking to allow us time to make it there.

See you on the slopes!
