La Grange Restaurant, Morzine interior

1. La Grange Restaurant

Location
Morzine

La Grange Restaurant is hidden down a little back road, less than 100 metres from the tourist office in the centre of Morzine, and only 100 metres from the bottom of the Pleney, making it a great alternative to eating up the mountain.

The inside of the building is gorgeous - traditional mountain decor in old wood and barn style equipment around the walls.

The owners have decided to leave plenty of space between the tables which I guess is one of the reasons it makes it popular with families and mothers with buggies who lunch here together with a good smattering of locals.

The menu is local Savoyarde with tasty alternatives to appease kids and fussy eaters. You've even got veggie options, which is rare for the carnivore nation that is France!

The Grange is open during the summer and winter season for lunch and dinner - booking is advisable.

Plus they offer a private catering service, so you can enjoy all their great food in the comfort of your own home!

Booking is recommended.

Interior of Le Tyrolien restaurant in Morzine

3. Le Tyrolien Restaurant

Location
Morzine

With a varied menu, plenty of seating inside and a large sunny terrace, the Tyrolien is a great place to head for a pizza and an experience that’s a bit more than a fast food restaurant. The restaurant sits near the Super Morzine bubble and has some pretty impressive pizza ovens. It’s got a great outside space for fair weather days, and the selection of pizzas is big. You’ll find them open until quite late in the evening, so if you’re looking for a snack after a night out this is a great place to head. For those who don’t want to eat pizza, there are also lots of other options including salads and other Savoyard specialities.

Specialising in typical Savoyard cuisine such as cheese fondue and tartiflette, they also offer a selection of meat, fish and pasta dishes. Their wide range of pizzas come highly recommended.

They are open daily in summer and winter

La Chamade Restaurant, Morzine interior

4. La Chamade Restaurant

This restaurant has been serving up good Alpine cuisine since 1969 when it was one of the first restaurants in Morzine. Recently renovated, they serve gourmet local cuisine.

Specialities of the house include ballotine of rabbit, duck pie, roasted piglet and other rustic French dishes, all cooked by gourmet chef Thierry Thorens. They also offer a good range of fish dishes, a small selection of pizzas and a children's menu which you can enjoy in their modern dining room or their heated terrace.

They have a cheese bar in the basement, where you can taste cheese from Savoie, Switzerland, Italy and the UK and a good selection of local and regional wines. In front of the restaurant, you will find their wine bar.
