Huski - Oven-ready meals & drinks delivered to your door

So, tempted by what was on offer, we decided to try out the service. As we opened their site we were struck by the wide variety of dishes on offer. Starters looked mouthwatering, consisting of a list of bite-sized baked goods such as sausage rolls, garlic ciabatta or salmon Wellingtons. Mains ranged from Indian and Thai curries to kid's meals, traditional British fare, Italian favourites and French classics, as well as a great selection of vegetarian and vegan recipes. You can complement them with side dishes including Saag Paneer, Peas & Leeks, roasted veggies, rice, couscous and all sorts of potatoes. We were also in awe of their dessert selection as we scrolled through the deliciously-looking Belgian Chocolate Cake, Sticky Ginger Loaf or Lemon Tarts... yum! They also include gluten-free options. There are even whole menus to select, from first-night welcome packs to kid's menus, as well as one, three and six-day menus and drinks packs.

We were really pleased with how convenient it was to order. We only needed to choose what we wanted to eat - probably the most difficult part of the process - and pay via their platform. In just a few clicks, we had ordered what we hoped would be a delicious meal (spoiler alert: we were not disappointed!). After arranging a delivery time the day before, the food was brought to our doorstep with full instructions for cooking.

The first dish that we tried was a Lamb Tagine with Minted Couscous which could either be cooked in the oven or the microwave. This is the perfect kind of meal for reheating as it simply features two containers that have to be warmed up and then mixed together. The lamb in the Tagine was tender and there were chickpeas and almond flakes mixed in. There was a hint of spice without the dish being in any way too spicy. The couscous had cherry tomatoes mixed through it and a subtle mint flavour. The two elements of the meal combined perfectly and it was really simple to prepare and plate up. There are a number of other meals that Huski offer which would be similarly easy to prepare and serve, including fragrant curries, rich lasagnes and creamy fish pies.

We then moved onto classic French cuisine: Coq au Vin with peas and leeks in herb butter, Gratin Dauphinoise potatoes and mixed vegetables. With more elements to the meal, it took a bit more planning with regards to the timings for getting everything ready at the same time but the results were well worth the effort. The portion sizes were extremely generous. All the dishes reheated well and had great flavours. Between the mixed vegetables, the peas and the sauce for the chicken there was plenty of colour on the plate. The chicken was tender, not at all dry, and the sauce was excellent.

We were quite full after this two courses but we had ogled at the dessert's page for so long that, of course, we had ordered not one, but two! The first that we tried was an Apple and Blackberry Crumble. After about forty minutes in the oven, the top of the crumble was browning nicely. The mix of fruits provided a good mixture of flavours and the topping was well done. Being British, we felt like the crumble could perhaps have done with some custard or ice cream but this is easy enough to pick up for yourself.

The final item on our special no-frills dinner was a Sticky Toffee Pudding. This was also cooked through in the oven and came out perfectly. When the sponge is springy to the touch, it is ready to be eaten! It was moist and accompanied by a toffee sauce, just like the ones back at home!

Overall, we were very impressed with the simplicity of the service on offer. From ordering to delivery, everything is designed to make the process as simple and hassle-free as possible. The quality of the food is excellent. The owners of the company have gone to great lengths to source the best possible meals in order to provide the best dining experience that they can.

Huski is certainly a great option for anyone who doesn’t want to stay in a catered chalet but also doesn’t want to spend time shopping and cooking while they are away. After all, a ski trip should be all about skiing... and apres ski!
