Morzine Snow Report: 1st February 21014
New Month, Empty Slopes, Two Pipes & Great Snow
February is probably the best month, there's quiet slopes, great snow and the Six Nations.
I admit that rugby isn't for everyone, but anyone interested in Morzine will be excited about the fact that the pistes right now are perfect: quiet, fast but grippy.
I rode down a few pistes today that are usually used for race training and found even these steep slopes fast but forgiving. It was easy to find an edge here and easy to carve, even on the steepest sections.
The pistes are excellent right now but the off piste does need some more snow before it will be fun again.
The pipe in Avoriaz is now cut and it has a baby brother too. With a mini pipe sitting next to the regular halfpipe there is now space for beginners to practice.
Off the hill we now have two months of rugby and the up coming Winter Olympics to look forward to. Nearly all the bars in town will show live sport and you'll find the best places to watch the rugby and Olympics over the coming weeks in our Morzine Bat Guide.
