Morzine has settled into a solid mid winter rhythm, with the village feeling busy and the surrounding slopes looking well covered after a steady few weeks of cold weather. From town level you can see good coverage right down to the trees, while higher up the Portes du Soleil has that calm, wintry feel that comes when the base is well established. Conditions right now feel dependable rather than flashy, which suits Morzine well at this point in the season.
Snow and Weather Summary
Snow depths are currently sitting at around 180 to 200cm across the upper slopes, with approximately 60 to 80cm at resort level. A light top up of fresh snow earlier in the week delivered around 5 to 10cm above 1500m, enough to refresh the surface without changing the overall picture. Temperatures have remained on the cold side, with daytime highs between -6 and -1 degrees Celsius on the mountain and close to freezing in the village. The freezing level has generally stayed below 1300m, helping to keep lower pistes in good shape. Wind has been light to moderate, mainly affecting exposed ridgelines. Higher terrain is skiing best, offering packed powder and good edge hold, while lower runs are firmer in the mornings and soften slightly during sunnier afternoons, especially on south facing slopes.
Outlook & What’s On
The outlook for the next few days suggests continued settled weather, with cold overnight temperatures and a mix of sunshine and high cloud. No significant snowfall is expected immediately, so conditions should remain consistent rather than changing quickly. In the village, the February atmosphere is in full swing, with regular après ski events, live music evenings and family friendly activities running throughout the week, keeping things lively off the slopes as well as on them.
Snow Takeaway
Morzine is offering reliable skiing across much of the area, with the best snow found higher up and on north facing runs. Early starts will suit those happy on firmer pistes, while later in the day conditions become more forgiving lower down as temperatures rise slightly.
