La Grange Restaurant, Morzine interior

1. La Grange Restaurant

Location
Morzine

La Grange Restaurant is hidden down a little back road, less than 100 metres from the tourist office in the centre of Morzine, and only 100 metres from the bottom of the Pleney, making it a great alternative to eating up the mountain.

The inside of the building is gorgeous - traditional mountain decor in old wood and barn style equipment around the walls.

The owners have decided to leave plenty of space between the tables which I guess is one of the reasons it makes it popular with families and mothers with buggies who lunch here together with a good smattering of locals.

The menu is local Savoyarde with tasty alternatives to appease kids and fussy eaters. You've even got veggie options, which is rare for the carnivore nation that is France!

The Grange is open during the summer and winter season for lunch and dinner - booking is advisable.

Plus they offer a private catering service, so you can enjoy all their great food in the comfort of your own home!

Booking is recommended.

2. L'Etale Restaurant

Location
Morzine

Located near the Pleney lift and l’Opera nightclub, L’Etale is reputed to be one of Morzine's best restaurants, serving great food at a reasonable price. It's a versatile restaurant for families and groups, although in high season if you’re in a large group it’s definitely worth booking ahead as it does get very busy.

L'Etale offers a wide variety of delicious dishes including local specialities such as fondue, raclette and hot stone cooked dishes, they have a "butcher's specialties" menu, omelettes and pastas as well as "world" and "wok" cuisine, and after all that their delicious sundaes and dessert menu is worth leaving room for.

The restaurant is open in the summer and winter seasons with continuous service from 11:00 - 00:00 but good idea to book a table in advance!

A cozy, festive restaurant interior with wooden walls, red plaid curtains, set tables, and blurry Christmas lights outside the windows.

3. La Rotonde Restaurant

Location
Morzine

Inside and out La Rotonde is the picture of classic alpine chic, wood and stone clad and with alpine decorations it gives a rustic cosy mountain feel. The restaurant offers three dining areas inside, plus a large terrace - covered and heated in the winter and bathed in sun in the summer, as well as a garden available in the summer. This restaurant offers a wonderful mix of tradition and modernity, and offers an extensive menu of à la carte dishes as well as a dedicated pizza menu available to eat in or take away.

Despite it's mountain feel, the restaurant offers far more than the traditional Savoyarde fare. Of course, the usual fondue and tartiflette are on the menu, as well as French classics, but you'll also find a wide selection of international dishes such as thai beef salad, poke bowl, tuna tataki, and Indian peanut butter chicken. There is also a good offering of vegetarian dishes, as well as a dedicated pizza menu.

If you like your wine you won't be disappointed - the huge wine list features a wide selection from across France, as well as some international options.

For large groups this restaurant is a great choice, with plenty space and different dining areas which can give a semi-privatised feel.

Open for lunch and dinner every day in winter and summer.

Le Vaffieu Restaurant, Les Gets exterior

4. Le Vaffieu Restaurant

Morzine

This place is popular and gets very busy at lunch time, so you really do need to book ahead.

This restaurant makes a great stop for lunch and they have lots of sun chairs to take a break in. In the summer, you can enjoy a bbq on their terrace and live music.

In winter it’s easy to get to on skis via the Folliets lift, or snowshoe from Les Chavannes, Les Gets. In summer it’s a fairly easy hike of about 45 minutes from Les Gets mid-station. It’s even easier from Morzine if you get the bubble up from the Pleney - only about a 20 minute walk.
