Destinations in Morzine

Morzine is the biggest of the towns and villages in the Portes du Soleil ski area. It feels more like a town than a resort, with its historical buildings and weekly Wednesday market. Morzine spreads out along the valley for a couple of kilometres and has a wide choice of accommodation options for all budgets. Les Gets is often spoken about in the same breath as Morzine, this is because they both access the same ski area. The Savoyard village of Les Gets, is a self-contained ski resort, smaller than Morzine and consists of pretty chalets amongst wooded hillsides.

Montriond lies on the other side of the river from Morzine and is a small village with fewer facilities and a large glacial lake. A ski bus connects you to ski lifts in Morzine and Ardent. The village of Les Lindarets is only accessible by lift during the winter season and lies at the top of the Ardent lift. In the summer Les Lindarets is accessible by road. 

Further up the mountain from Morzine is Avoriaz, the higher altitude purpose-built resort. Avoriaz is a good place to stay if you want easy access to the rest of the Portes du Soleil ski area, as it sits right in the middle. Other villages close by include Chatel, a traditional French ski resort that also has great access into both French and Swiss sides of the Portes du Soleil ski area.
