Peak summer and August has it all, with events and activities to suit everyone.
Summer is heating up in Morzine, and so is the calendar of events for the area.
There is a whole host of events planned for this month, read on for a look at what we like to do in resort throughout August.
Whilst average August temperatures sit at a low of 11°C and a high of 21°C, we have seen temperatures can really vary in the mountains in the summer with occasional downpours that roll in and heatwaves that bring a searing heat.

Try out your road biking skills to see if you can beat Bernard Hinault's record of 33 minutes set during the Tour de France in 1979, up the 14.6 kilometres and 860 metres of height gain of the Morzine-Avoriaz climb. The course comprises 19 turns and an average steepness of 6%, with a maximum of 10%.
The Col de la Joux Verte is a popular steep circuit that climbs the road from Morzine to the ski station of Avoriaz some 800m on the cliffs above.
A fairly simple route that begins with a 30km downhill section along the valley floor before you begin the climb home.
A short and easy to follow route that has a steady but not too steep climb, the highest point of which is Les Gets.
Experience a unique twist on a traditional day at the beach with Morzine’s “beach in the mountains”, also August sees a fun-filled week of events for the children, mainly held in the Tourist Office square and all for free. Something different is set up every day and it is very inclusive and aimed at children from 18 months to 12 years old.
Paragliding, or parapenting as the French say, is a good way to escape the packed pavements and busy mountain trails and to head up, literally, into the sky with a tandem flight. There are lots of companies that offer the service and it's a good opportunity to take a bird's eye view of the town and the surrounding valley from the peace and tranquillity of the skies above it.
This gym is fully equipped with all the equipment you need for a great workout. Located at L'Aiglon de Morzine Residence, just five minutes from the centre of resort, it is also open to the public.
The Hive is a well equipped modern and spacious gym for solo or group training.
In the heart of the French Alps, in the village of Les Gets, experience a night walk in an enchanted forest like no other. Set off along the path of a travelling music-maker and his hot-air balloon, and follow his incredible journey beyond the mountains.
The Morzine summer luge winds it's way down the left hand side of the Pleney. Take the La Crusaz chairlift up with your sledge and make your way down the track.
Aquariaz is an aquatic paradise set in the heart of Avoriaz offering a huge water park made up of a gentle flowing indoor river, a slidewinder (an aquatic halfpipe), a toddlers paddling pool and water playhouse, a large pool with natural climbing walls.
The Pointe de Nyon area is dedicated to hiking trails and discovering the fauna that lives in the mountains.
Experience a packed summer programme in the Portes du Soleil. Enjoy the thrilling Trial 4x4 in Les Gets, the vibrant Avoriaz Dance Festival, and the spectacular Trail des Hauts Forts trail races. Test your endurance at the Morzine–Montriond–Avoriaz Triathlon, or watch the world's best riders compete in the UCI Mountain Bike World Series across Les Gets, Morzine and Châtel.
Combining creative workshops, walks, tree-climbing and educational activities. You can explore the forest, discover the flora and fauna, identify plants and observe birds, climb trees in complete safety supervised by professionals, handle wood and leave with your own creations. An immersive, rejuvenating experience for young and old.
You'll find a host of traditional butchers, fishmongers and grocers selling local produce such as tasty cheeses and fine sausages.

Every day, in the heart of the village of Morzine, entertainment and shows will be offered for free.
The Trail des Hauts Forts are all natural trail running races with a short, medium race and long race as well as a relay race. From Morzine at 1,000m, up to Avoriaz at 1,800m, the track crosses one of the most beautiful trails of the fabulous Portes du Soleil domain.

The biggest winter festival is the Rock des Pistes week in March, where live bands play up on the pistes, with many other concerts being held in resort during the evenings. Highlights in summer include Crankworx and the Pass'portes du Soleil (two large mountain biking events), and the Spartan obstacle course race.
