Five things to consider before deciding where to stay in Morzine

Luxury accommodation in Morzine

If youโ€™re looking to add a little indulgence to your mountain holiday, Morzine and its neighbouring villages have plenty to tempt you. From spacious chalets with hot tubs, home cinemas and private pools to stylish apartments with sweeping alpine views, thereโ€™s no shortage of high-end options. Many of the most luxurious properties are tucked away in peaceful hamlets like Les Granges, Montriond and Nyon, all just a few minutes from the heart of the resort, giving you the best of both worlds โ€“ tranquillity and easy access to the slopes. While there are no five star hotels here, the excellent four star offerings come with five star touches, from spa facilities and gourmet dining to beautiful swimming pools and exceptional service.

Romantic accommodation in Morzine

Family accommodation in Morzine

If youโ€™re holidaying with kids, staying close to nursery slopes and the resort centre can make life much easier. Ski boots arenโ€™t much fun for little ones, so being near ski schools, gentle runs and restaurants means less time travelling and more time enjoying the holiday.

Les Gets is especially popular with families, thanks to its pretty village feel, easy piste access and plenty of off-slope activities for kids. The gentle, wide runs are perfect for beginners and most accommodation offers ski-in ski-out convenience without being right on the slopes.

Cheap accommodation in Morzine

If you want to keep costs down, staying a little further from Morzine centre is often cheaper. There are plenty of budget-friendly options including simple hotels, apartments and a no-fuss hostel with dorm and private rooms.

Down the valley, the small town of St Jean dโ€™Aulps offers good-value accommodation and a small ski area with varied terrain. A free shuttle links you to Morzine, Les Gets and Avoriaz, so you wonโ€™t miss out on the wider ski experience.

Ski-in ski-out accommodation in Morzine

Because Morzine sits relatively low in the valley, thereโ€™s a limited selection of ski-in ski-out places, mostly around Nyon and Les Nants. Youโ€™ll also find some in Les Gets, where skiing right from your doorstep is easier to come by. Ski-to-door accommodation is very popular here and books up fast, so it pays to plan ahead. Itโ€™s often pricier than places a little further from the slopes, but thereโ€™s nothing quite like clipping in just steps from your front door.

Party accommodation in Morzine

Youโ€™ll want to stay as close to the centre of Morzine as possible, this is where you will find the most aprรจs-ski action. The Super Morzine gondola, which delivers you directly into the massive Portes du Soleil ski area, is right in the centre of the village, as are the Plรฉney lifts, which access the local ski area: Morzine and Les Gets. There are a few bars in other areas but most of the aprรจs-ski action is in town itself.

Towns nearby

Around Morzine youโ€™ll find a range of nearby villages and resorts that offer different styles of accommodation. Montriond is a quieter base by a glacial lake with ski bus links to Morzine and Ardent. Avoriaz has high altitude ski-in ski-out options right in the heart of the Portes du Soleil. Les Lindarets is a small mountain hamlet, while Chatel and St Jean dโ€™Aulps offer traditional village stays with access to great skiing.
